TARANGO – Bangladesh

TARANGO has successfully completed the Capacity Building on Sewing project (May 10-Oct 10) with the financial support of AIDA, Spain.  A total 32 vulnerable women in Kulaghat, Rajpur & Khuniagach unions of Lalmonirhut district were trained to produce clothing for sale in the local market.

Two Sewing machine giving ceremonies were organized by TARANGO on 1^st and 2^nd October 2010 at Khuniagach and kulaghat to hand over the swing machine to the trainees.  Mr. Fazlul Haque, Personal Secretary to the Honorable President the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was presented as Chief Guest at the swing machine distribution ceremony.  Mr. Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman, District Commissioner Lalmonirhat Sadar,  Mr. Mohammad Shamim Alam, Upozila Nirbahi Officer, Ms. Kohinoor Yesmin Chief Executive Officer of TARANGO, Mr. Nicola Momente country delegate of AIDA and concern union’s Chairmen were presented at the session.

In his speech Mr. Fazlul Haque said that Kulaghat, Rajpur & Khuniagach unions are river erosion and flood affected area and most of the people are depended on relief program.  But now TARANGO and AIDA’s jointly initiative has create working opportunities for these women. He gave his thanks to TARANGO and AIDA for these activities and requested them to continue this project for women.   Mr. Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman DC and Mr. Mohammad Shamim Alam UNO also appreciated TARANGO and AIDA to run this type of IGA prograame and also requested them not to discontinue this project.  Trained swing artisan’s also illustrated their previous situation and expressed their experiences during this project period to the audience.  They requested to the CEO of TARANGO to continue this project.

Ms. Kohinoor Yeasmin, CEO of TARANGO gave her thanks to the chief guest and special guest to attend this program and seek support from AIDA and Govt officials to continue this project in this areas.
