About Tarango

TARANGO (A Women Uplift Organization) stands for ‘training and rural advancement non-government organisation. It is a non-profit, national level voluntary development organization. It was established in 1989 envisioning Women’s empowerment in the society. Its vision is “establishment of just and poverty free Society through women empowerment”.

The Mission Statement:

TARANGO is a voluntary non-government organization, which aims to establish a just and poverty-free society by organizing and training the most disadvantaged WOMEN through its committed, dedicated and efficient workers. It further aims to make the WOMEN resourceful, skilled and production oriented by assisting them to develop their human potentials and talents to promote leadership and entrepreneurship so that they can take up the responsibilities of sustainable economic activities to establish a self-reliant and gender-balanced society

We are currntly working in the following areas: Dinajpur, Lalmonirhut, Bogra, Barisal, Gopalgonj, Faridpur, Potuakhali, Borguna,  Cox’s Bazar, Bhandorbon, Gazipur, Tangail and Dhaka districts.

TARANGO have been working with other organizations in home and abroad (CARE, Bangladesh German seed project, German Red Cross, Save the Children–AUS, PPS-B, GTZ, Dhaka, Stormme Foundation, Bangla-German Shampreti, PLAN-Pakistan, CARE Afghanistan, IRC Afghanistan, MARCY Crops Afghanistan, ILO, Dhaka, CDMP/UNDP Dhaka, CLP/DFID Dhaka, CONCERN-Bangladesh, AIDA-AECID-SPAIN,  Traidcraft Exchange BD etc).

Future Targets and Aims:

  • Expand Handicraft Market in home and abroad.
  • Initiate different projects for Livelihood Development and Economic Empowerment.
  • Explore Business education for Economic empowerment in home and abroad specially for non-semiliterate

Team: the number of managerial level staff located in head office are: 10

Staff Strength in field: 71 (Male: 39 Female: 32) experience staff.

27 members of Social workers, Teachers are involved in   General Body and out that 9 member are acting as Executive Committee member for policy making affairs of the organization.
