A.  Handicrafts Program:

The function of handicrafts program is to improve the design and quality of the local handicraft in order to make them more marketable in the local and international market. The women are supported in a four-layer approach: training, supplies of raw materials, marketing and guidance into self-directed action. TARANGO works closely with several Fair-Trade organizations in Europe and was able to establish a nice market for its handcrafts products, generating a small but considerable extra income to its producers. TARANGO Works closely with several Fair-trade organizations in Home and Abroad & establish market for Handicrafts, Use of eco-friendly technologies, initiatives to reduce energy consumption and create awareness of environmental hazards, ensuring fair wages for artisans and following the Fair trade standard as WFTO members. TARANGO supports its producers in four layer approach-

  • Market oriented Skill development Training
  • New product development support
  • Environment friendly raw materials & Marketing support
  • Guidance into self-directed action

B. Women Entrepreneurship Development Program:

The WEDP (Women Entrepreneurship Development Program) is one of the substantial programs of TARANGO, which has started in 1997. Our WEDP is assisting many semi and Non-literate women in Bangladesh to start and improve their micro-business and helping them in increasing their income, living conditions and social status. TARANGO has developed, in co-operation with GTZ (German Technical Promotion), an Entrepreneurship training program for non-literate women. The training is based on the CEFE approach (Competency based Economies through Formation of Entrepreneurs) an experiential learning model. TARANGO’s training capabilities in the fields of women entrepreneurship development and have expertise on the following training and consulting services:

  • New Business Creation training Courses for potential entrepreneurs (literate).
  • Entrepreneurship for Non and Semi literate groups
  • Business Improvement and Expansion Course for existing entrepreneurs.
  • Doorstep Business Counseling Services to micro entrepreneurs
  • Training of Trainers on Entrepreneurship Development (TOT)
  • Gender and Business Training
  • Entrepreneurship for VTC (Vocational Training Course) Students
  • Small business management training for the Farmer
  • Tailor made course (Demand based) of business management
  • Product development and Skill development training on Handicraft and marketing.
  • Studies on “Livelihood Development”, “Alternative Business Opportunities” and Enterprise developments.
  • Business Improvement and Expansion Course for existing small and micro entrepreneurs.

C. Village Savings and Loan Associations

The Village Savings and Loan (VSL) model is a savings-based approach based in the community, are complementary to MFIs, tending to serve the very poor whose income is irregular and less reliable and who may not be full-time business people.

 

 

 

 

D.  Women Institutional Development

1. Savings & Micro-credit and IGA

Tarango introduced the Integrated Development Program aiming to enhance and improve the social and humanitarian aspects of the beneficiaries. Following activities are running under this program:

2. Social Empowerment

TARANGO is running social empowerment programme all over the year through different development projects. This pictorial social empowerment module developed based on current social situation analysis. Aiming to enhance and improve the social and humanitarian aspects of the producers Tarango runs various programs like:
